“Borderless” A New Black and White exhibit by Romanian-born Artist at Boulder’s Dairy Center for the Arts Boulder, CO. – May 19, 2011
“Borderless”, a new exhibit by Colorado-based, Romanian-born artist Celina Grigore is opening on Friday, June 3rd, 2011 at the Dairy Center for the Arts in Boulder, Colorado. Based on the related themes of migration and moving between borders, the exhibit features a stunning combination of black and white drawings and large hand-woven tapestries. “I’m excited to be able to present my vision of traveling across boundaries and borders”, says the Romanian-born Celina Grigore. “As the world becomes a smaller place, the idea of migration becomes a more common experience to all of us.”
After graduating with an MFA from the National University of Art in Bucharest, Romania, Mrs. Grigore eventually settled in Colorado. Celina uses her globe-trotting experiences to bring an extra dimension to her artwork. Mrs. Grigore adds, “I prefer working in the more traditional European art methods. This includes hand-woven tapestries and ink-and-paper drawings. I wanted to explore the contrast between growing up under a brutal Communist regime and the freedom of living in the United States.”
There will be an artist talk from 4-5pm on June 3rd; followed by an opening reception from 5-7pm. Refreshments will be served. The exhibit runs through Friday, July 8th, 2011 in the Polly Addison Gallery at The Dairy Center for the Arts. The Dairy Center for the Arts is located at 2590 Walnut Street in Boulder, Colorado.
